AL QASHASH (CERITA) — Ayat 12
وَحَرَّمْنَا عَلَيْهِ الْمَرَاضِعَ مِن قَبْلُ فَقَالَتْ هَلْ أَدُلُّكُمْ عَلَى أَهْلِ بَيْتٍ يَكْفُلُونَهُ لَكُمْ وَهُمْ لَهُ نَاصِحُونَ
And We had prevented from him [all] wet nurses before, so she said, "Shall I direct you to a household that will be responsible for him for you while they are to him [for his upbringing] sincere?"
Tafsir
{And We had forbidden him wet nurses before} that is, before returning him to his mother, that is, We prevented him from accepting the breast of a wet nurse other than his mother, so he did not accept the breast of any of the wet nurses prepared for him. {Then she said} his sister {Shall I direct you to a household} when she saw their compassion for him {who will take care of him for you} through breastfeeding and other means {and who are sincere to him}. The pronoun for him was interpreted as ownership in response to them, so she was answered, so she brought his mother, so he accepted her breast, and she answered them about accepting him by saying that she had a pleasant smell and good milk, so He gave her permission to breastfeed him in her house, so she returned with him as God Almighty said:
