MARYAM — Ayat 8
8
He said, "My Lord, how will I have a boy when my wife has been barren and I have reached extreme old age?"
Tafsir
{He said, "My Lord, how can I have a boy while my wife is barren and I have reached extreme old age?"} From 'ata: dryness, meaning the end of age, one hundred and twenty years, and his wife reached ninety-eight years. The root of 'ata is 'atu, and the ta' was broken for ease, and the first waw was changed to a ya' to suit the kasra, and the second to a ya' so that the ya' could be assimilated into it.
