89 : 1
Tafseer
By the dawn
89 : 2
Tafseer
And [by] ten nights
89 : 3
Tafseer
And [by] the even [number] and the odd
89 : 4
Tafseer
And [by] the night when it passes,
89 : 5
Tafseer
Is there [not] in [all] that an oath [sufficient] for one of perception?
89 : 6
Tafseer
Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with 'Aad -
89 : 7
Tafseer
[With] Iram - who had lofty pillars,
89 : 8
Tafseer
The likes of whom had never been created in the land?
89 : 9
Tafseer
And [with] Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley?
89 : 10
Tafseer
And [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes? -
89 : 11
Tafseer
[All of] whom oppressed within the lands
89 : 12
Tafseer
And increased therein the corruption.
89 : 13
Tafseer
So your Lord poured upon them a scourge of punishment.
89 : 14
Tafseer
Indeed, your Lord is in observation.
89 : 15
Tafseer
And as for man, when his Lord tries him and [thus] is generous to him and favors him, he says, "My Lord has honored me."
89 : 16
Tafseer
But when He tries him and restricts his provision, he says, "My Lord has humiliated me."
89 : 17
Tafseer
No! But you do not honor the orphan
89 : 18
Tafseer
And you do not encourage one another to feed the poor.
89 : 19
Tafseer
And you consume inheritance, devouring [it] altogether,
89 : 20
Tafseer
And you love wealth with immense love.

By the dawn
And the nights
ten
And the even
and the odd
And the night
when
it passes
Is
in
that
an oath
for those
who understand
Do not
you see
how
dealt
your Lord
with Aad
Iram
possessors (of)
lofty pillars
Which
not
had been created
like them
in
the cities
And Thamud
who
carved out
the rocks
in the valley
And Firaun
owner of
stakes
Who
transgressed
in
the lands
And made much
therein
corruption
So poured
on them
your Lord
scourge
(of) punishment
Indeed
your Lord
(is) surely Ever Watchful
And as for
man
when
does
try him
his Lord
and is generous to him
and favors him
he says
My Lord
has honored me
But
when
does
He try him
and restricts
for him
his provision
then he says
My Lord
(has) humiliated me
Nay!
But
not
you honor
the orphan
And not
you feel the urge
to
feed
the poor
And you consume
the inheritance
devouring
altogether
And you love
wealth
(with) love
exceeding
